Orkut/google open for all

Google has open Orkut to all people with a Google account. This service has been extended to all it's services only thing that you need is a valid e-mail id. Invitation is no longer needed. Orkut has been an invitation-only service since its launch in January 2005. It’s a popular social network site in Brazil, where 9% of the total population have an Orkut account.

This had been a major drawback for orkut.com but now they can think that they would get more people by doing so but i don't know how??
