We're always working to resolve problems that pop up on orkut. If your problem is listed below, we're aware of the issue and are working to fix it as soon as possible. Due to high email volume, we're unable to individually answer emails relating to our known issues.


Before contacting us, please review these common issues:
• Some users have noticed that when they delete their orkut account, their profile may still be visible. Please know that it may take more than 48 HOURS for a profile to be completely deleted . You will not be able to log in to this profile, but it should be completely deleted soon.

• Have you received a suspicious email that appears to be from orkut? Click here to find out more about hoax emails or spam on orkut.
Here’s an example of a recent wave of emails going around that are trying to direct you to a suspicious site:
“That's a pretty sweet page you've got there. This whole Orkut world is kinda blowing my mind these days…You should check out my profile on this other site, I'm always on over there and I doubt if i'll be logging in to orkut everyday: http://www.XXXXX .”

Please exercise caution before clicking on any links or downloadable files, even if they appear to be from orkut.


• Has somebody said that they’ve hacked your account and deleted all your scraps? In most cases, this is merely a joke to make it appear that your scraps are gone when clicking from a link. You can always see your scraps in your profile by clicking “next” and “last” on your scrapbook. You may want to delete the hoax scrap, which can sometimes cause numerous blank pages to appear in your scrapbook.

• Some users report that their profiles are not visible to their friends. If your profile isn't showing in your friends' "friends list" please be patient; we're aware of this issue and are working to find a solution. We will not be able to solve this on a profile-by-profile basis.

• Some users are seeing an incorrect number of friends, fans, scraps, unread messages, community members, or photos in their profile. The numbers in your profile are automatically generated and can't be manually changed. However, this incorrect number doesn't affect the actual content of your friends list, fans, scrapbook, inbox, community, or album. Most users report that this problem goes away on its own in a few days.

• Some users can’t find their profiles or communities in the orkut search results. We’re always improving the search function, but cannot manually alter the results. Keep in mind that orkut search cannot detect special characters such as accent marks (`). Also, you may have to wait for a few days before a new profile or community appears in search results.

• Having trouble adding friends? If orkut is detecting the wrong language for your profile, try removing any text or text art that is not in your primary language.
